Building the shared knowledge base

Better understanding the shared challenges and emerging threats is critical to improve our response to online child sexual abuse.

With over $2.75 million invested in research, our collaboration with Safe Online has supported funding of 16 cutting-edge research projects delving into a range of issues.

About our research program

The Tech Coalition Safe Online Research Fund connects the tech industry with academic and nonprofit research institutions to produce actionable insights that help combat OCSEA.

We have funded research in areas such as prevention and deterrence, detection and reporting, and response and support. Projects have explored topics including grooming language patterns, perpetrator behavior, parent awareness, and the evolving risks posed by generative AI – particularly its potential to influence attitudes and behaviors related to child sexual abuse material (CSAM).

Through this collaboration, we aim to bridge research and practice, filling knowledge gaps and equipping tech companies and other stakeholders with insights to strengthen child safety online.
